With major disruptions in today's job market, 1stGenYale alumni created this webinar to discuss the impact of potential job cuts or loss to help Yale alumni who might be dislocated. For those of you who live in or near NYC – or who might be visiting NYC in May – we will be running this year’s picnic as a pre-summer picnic on Saturday, May 17th from 1-4 PM at Summit Rock in Central Park! This picnic will be co-hosted with several Yale alumni groups that have lots of members in NYC, including 1stGenYale, Yale Alumni Educators, Camp Yale Emeritus, and the Yale College Classes of 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. 

For the ninth year in a row, alumni were thrilled to mentor the 93 incoming students who were participating in the First-year Scholars at Yale program. Coming from first-generation and low-income backgrounds, the scholars spend several weeks on campus during the summer, getting an early start on their undergraduate courses and being introduced to the many resources and opportunities available to them.

Admitted students from the New York City area and their parents were invited to meet Yale alums and other incoming students at a Summer Send-Off. Juan Carlos Johnny Salinas '03 MFA coordinated the event, which was co-sponsored by the Yale Latino Alumni Network.

Yale alums in the Washington, DC, area enjoyed a Sunday afternoon out on June 23, with lunch at Tequila Y Mezcal Cocina followed by a performance of Zavala Zavala at the GALA Hispanic Theatre in DC. Following the performance, GALA Hispanic Theatre hosted a panel discussion on the issues of immigration, separation of families, and related legal systems.
