1stGenYale co-hosted a hybrid webinar titled "How to Break into Competitive PhD Programs" at the Poorvu Center for Teaching & Learning in Sterling Memorial Library in November 2024. Over 20 students attended the program, which was organized by Nick Surdel '25 PhD and Michael Watson '81. A panel of diverse PhD candidates, including Josh Beale '23, Lydia Burleson '21, and Francisco Diaz-Collado '28 PhD, candidly discussed their journeys and addressed challenges such as getting financial aid, finding mentors, and building research experience across various fields from STEM to humanities. A special thank you to Annie Freedman '78 MPA & MHA for handling the logistics.
