Yale SOM FLI Alumni & Students NYC Event

1stGenYale alumni began mentoring the Yale School of Management (SOM) FLI (First-Gen Low-Income) student group, which hosted a "First-Gen Alumni Voices" event in NYC in November 2024. Over 30 first- and second-year SOM students came for an inspiring evening of connection and mentorship. Panelists Lise Chapman '81 MBA, Lei Bely Cheng '14 MBA, Man Ip '24 MBA, and Jordon Rose '22 MBA shared candid insights on navigating the MBA journey as first-generation students, overcoming challenges like imposter syndrome, and building professional networks post-MBA. Led by FLI Club President Luisa Locatelli '25 MBA, the event fostered a sense of belonging and empowerment among attendees, strengthening our bonds within the first-gen community.
