Bulldog Days 2024 - Yale & You

1stGenYale was part of Yale & You at this year’s Bulldog Days for admitted FGLI students. At an event at Yale on April 16, several Yale College alumni mingled – and enjoyed an ice cream social – with students, while Lise Chapman ’81 MBA and Grace Kim ’22 shared their insights as members of the panel. 1stGenYale also hosted two webinars - one for students (on April 23) and another for parents (on April 21) who could not come to Bulldog Days in person.

Attending the ice cream social were Michael Watson ’81, Barb Protacio ’81, Suzanne Solensky ’83, Patricia Melton ’83, Easter Chiu ’87, and Jay Wong ’17.

Alums and students who served on the webinar for students were Timeica Bethel ’11, Kevin Chan ’24, Karen Li ’23, Tanisha Narine ’26, and Pablo Vasquez Palarmo ’20. Dean Karin Gosselink, director of the Office of Educational Opportunity, moderated, and Lise Chapman, Grace Kim, Michael Watson, and Barb Protacio provided support.

Dean Gosselink was also on the webinar for parents, along with Hugo Faria ’86, Lauren Robinson ’81, and Yvette Rivers ’96. Dana Norwood moderated.

Marty Chandler ’21, director of recruitment in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, described the value of Bulldog Days: “Yale & You connects newly admitted FGLI students with current ones who serve as their counselors throughout the month of April. Participants are invited to virtual panels, weekly counselor meetings, and social events during which they build community with their fellow students, learn about what kinds of resources Yale has to offer, like the FGLI Community Initiative, and more. During Bulldog Days, admits get to meet their counselors in-person for the first time during our annual ice cream social, and this year, they got to mix and mingle as well with alums from 1stGenYale! We had over 200 students participate in Yale & You this year, and last year’s program yielded over 80% of those who participated, so we’re hoping for the same this time around.”
