1stGenYale was proud to be present at the January 13 For Humanity Illuminated kickoff event at Lincoln Center, where President Maurie McInnis launched the 2025 regional series before nearly 900 alumni, parents, and friends of the university. As speakers representing the four impact areas of the $7 billion For Humanity campaign took the stage—from law and medicine to the arts and athletics—the evening highlighted the far-reaching influence of a Yale education. In the spirit of President McInnis’ call to “carry light and truth” into the world, 1stGenYale engaged alumni in conversations about ensuring that access to that transformative education remains wide and equitable.

The program’s themes—trust in higher education, strengthening the undergraduate experience, expanding opportunity, and deepening community partnerships—closely mirror 1stGenYale’s mission. Stories like James Forman Jr.’s work expanding pathways into law and Ali Truwit’s leadership in the face of adversity underscored how access, mentorship, and resilience shape leaders across fields. By connecting with attendees throughout the evening, 1stGenYale reaffirmed its commitment to supporting first-generation and low-income students and alumni, ensuring that Yale’s impact continues to grow through inclusion, representation, and opportunity for generations to come.
