Join the 1stGenYale Board of Directors — Now Recruiting New Board Members!

Updated: Aug 10

1stGenYale is seeking passionate new Board of Directors members to help shape our future, creating meaningful programs for Yale’s first-generation low-income (FGLI) students and alumni.

Our all-volunteer Board has direct responsibility for overseeing 1stGenYale, which develops programs focusing on career and life skills. Serving as a 1stGenYale Board member is a way to give back to Yale and help the next generation of these Yale College students succeed.

We are recruiting Yale alumni who:

  • Are passionate for supporting first-generation and/or low-income current Yale students and alumni

  • Bring skills and new ideas in one or more areas: event programming (in-person and virtual), networking, data management, communications, or fundraising

  • Are interested in serving for a 3-year term, starting January 2026, with work averaging 10-15 hours per month (depending on the focus), including board meetings

  • Have participated in one or more of our programs

We encourage Yale College and Graduate & Professional schools alumni from a wide range of backgrounds, interests, skills, experiences, and locations to apply. You can self-nominate or nominate any Yale alum.

Application Deadline: Friday, September 5, 2025

Questions:  1stgenyale@1stgenyale.org. We welcome your application!
