Finding a Job in Today’s World

With over 40 years in diverse careers and a specialty in human resources, Michael Watson ’81 described his journey from Yale to his first job in sales with IBM to his current position in the public sector overseeing over 9,000 employees in two states. Robyn Acampora, director of strategic initiatives and public service careers in Yale’s Office of Career Strategy, shared her expertise advising Yale students and alumni in this competitive job market. More than 230 participants learned from Michael and Robyn about what it takes to:

  • design a career in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors

  • be flexible in a variety of career positions

  • keep skills current in a rapidly changing world
